Terms of Use
Last updated: June 8, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Muxbell, including the Muxbell macOS application and the muxbell.com website (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Arbiter Technologies Ltd. ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Muxbell is a native macOS menu-bar application that watches coding agents running inside your local tmux sessions — such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Copilot CLI, and Pi — and alerts you when an agent finishes a turn or needs attention, so you can jump straight to the relevant pane.
Muxbell is local-first: it observes tmux state on the machine where you run it. We do not host, operate, or manage the agents, terminals, or development environments you use it with.
2. License and Purchase
Muxbell is sold as a one-time paid license. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. A free trial is available so you can fully evaluate Muxbell before paying; after the trial, a license key unlocks continued use.
Purchases are processed by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment, billing, currency conversion, and applicable taxes under its own terms and policies. Pricing is displayed at the time of purchase.
Because the free trial lets you evaluate Muxbell in full before any payment, license purchases are final and we do not operate a separate refund program. This does not exclude or limit any mandatory withdrawal or refund rights you may have under EU consumer law; where such rights apply, contact us and we will honour them.
3. Your License Key
Your license key is issued for your personal use. You may not publish, resell, or share your key. We may deactivate keys that were obtained fraudulently or shared in violation of these Terms. Validation of a license key happens occasionally over the network (see Section 5); everything else runs locally.
4. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring you are authorised to run and monitor the agents, sessions, and machines you use Muxbell with, and for everything those agents and commands do. You must not use the Service to gain unauthorised access to any system or to violate applicable law.
5. Updates, Licensing Checks, and Availability
We may release updates, changes, or improvements to the Service. The app checks in with our licensing provider from time to time to validate your license; aside from those occasional checks, Muxbell works locally and does not require a constant connection. If a licensing check cannot be completed, the app applies a reasonable grace period rather than locking you out immediately.
6. Intellectual Property
Muxbell and its original content, features, branding, and documentation are owned by Arbiter Technologies Ltd. and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service except as permitted by applicable law.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every terminal, shell configuration, tmux version, or agent. We do not warrant that every alert will be delivered in your environment.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Arbiter Technologies Ltd. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or work, missed or delayed alerts, or any damages arising from the use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for your Muxbell license.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or discontinue the website and distribution materials at any time; this does not affect non-excludable rights in a copy of the app you have already lawfully licensed. Sections 6, 7, 8, and 10 survive termination.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you retain any mandatory consumer protection rights granted by the laws of your country of residence. Subject to mandatory consumer law, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of Bulgaria. The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated through the app or website before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
